Partners in winemaking and in life, Jesse and Emma Hall bring a passion for wine, adventure, and stewardship of the land to Seawolf Wines. Wine and farming were key experiences for both Emma and Jesse as they grew up, working on their families’ farms in Northern California, developing the knowledge and fascination with organic farming and winemaking that is their signature today.
After several years of adventures, surfing, sailing, and traveling the world, the two met on a blind date, and now own and operate Seawolf Wines. As third generation organic winegrowers, their love for wine and winemaking is in every bottle of wine they produce. The pair grows incredible Zinfandel in their organically farmed vineyards in Mendocino County and neighboring Sonoma County, producing limited, handcrafted Zinfandel and Rosé of Zinfandel each year. At their organic Estate vineyard in Yorkville, they also grow Sauvignon Blanc, Grenache, Mourvedre, Petite Sirah, Primitivo, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. Grapes are harvested by hand in the cool of the night or the very early morning, to preserve the distinctive characteristics and flavor of the grapes.
The Rosé of Zinfandel is a summery, pink wine, dry, bright, and very crisp, with flavors of melon, apple, and raspberry. The Battaglini Zinfandel is a rich, complex wine, beautifully balanced with flavors of blackberry. It comes from a historic vineyard planted with Tuscan cuttings in the late 1800s in the Russian River Valley. The Lady of the Lake Zinfandel is a full-bodied wine with depth, redolent of berries and figs with a fine finish.
The Seawolf tasting room is perched in the beautiful Yorkville Highlands, where visitors can enjoy spectacular vistas overlooking Anderson Valley, with its rolling hills, charming vineyards, and live oaks, as they sip Seawolf’s exceptional wines. The $25 tasting fee includes a vineyard tour and a flight of four wines. Reservations are recommended. And you can take it with you: Seawolf offers two wine clubs, so you can delight in their delicious, artisanal wines no matter where you are.
