Ledford House Bar

Perched on a bluff overlooking the Pacific, the Ledford House has one of the best views on the Mendocino coast. Its comfortable, convivial bar features a wall of windows with a panoramic view of the crashing surf. Relax and enjoy the breathtaking sunsets and the majestic progress of whales on their twice annual migration from the comfort of your seat at the bar. For an even better view, head out to the wooden deck, equipped with tables and chairs. You might even be graced with a visit from one of the restaurant’s resident cats.

Back inside, you’ll be well looked after by the friendly and expert bartenders, who can make you just about any drink your heart desires, from a glass of local wine to a specialty cocktail. Sip a Sunset Slipper (sparkling wine with a dash of Campari) while admiring the sunset or a Buddha’s Hand Lemon Drop, an exotic twist on the classic drink using vodka infused with the floral, refreshing Buddha’s Hand citrus. The Ledford House has a full bar, and their wine list highlights local wineries, particularly family owned and organic ones.

Dinner can be ordered and eaten at the bar, or in one of the two spacious dining rooms. The food is influenced by the French Provençal style, but is sourced as locally as possible. The full menu is available at the bar, or try the three course bistro menu. Favorite dishes include the Mussels Provençal, redolent with white wine and garlic, the crisp skinned roasted duck with wild berry sauce, and the classic French dish of cassoulet, rich with white beans and an array of meats. The food is well-executed and beautifully presented, but not pretentious.
