Tucked away off the highway is one of Fort Bragg’s best-kept secrets: Pomo Bluffs Park. Turn west at the lights on Ocean View Drive, and keep following it past the hotel and houses, and signs will point you to Pomo Bluffs. It looks like a residential area, and you may think you are in the wrong place, but soon you will arrive at the Bluffs, with their spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean.

The unobstructed views of the crashing waves and the dramatic rock formations will take your breath away. A paved pathway runs along the bluffs, allowing easy and comfortable access for bicycles, wheelchairs and strollers as well as runners and pedestrians.
Along the way, you’ll find interpretive signs with interesting facts about the history, wildlife, and geographic formations of the area. Benches are dotted along the path, so visitors can stop and rest or enjoy the panoramic views. This is a perfect vantage point for admiring the sunset over the ocean or for watching whales during their annual migration.
Use caution when approaching the edges of the steep cliffs overlooking the ocean; there may be unseen erosion making them unstable. This area is often windy and can be foggy at times, so dress in layers, even in the summer.
Pomo Bluffs Park is located at 19301 Cliff Way in Fort Bragg and is open for day use from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm daily. Wheelchair accessible, dog friendly, and family friendly. There is no entry fee and parking is free.
