Mendocino welcomes visitors with open arms, whether they’re on two feet or four. We understand that your dog is family, and just as you share your life with your canine companion, you want to share your adventures, too. You can do just that in Mendocino’s vacation wonderland, where your dog can stay with you at some of the finest inns in the area, wander pristine coastal trails and beaches, and even visit a historic lighthouse. Dogs are always welcome at the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens, where they can stroll with their humans past flower gardens, babbling brooks, ferns, woods, and a stunning ocean view.
The Skunk Train is one of the most beloved attractions on the Coast, and your beloved pet can hop right on board with you and enjoy the ride into ancient redwoods, sniff the fresh air, and stretch his or her legs at Glen Blair Junction, where you can walk for a few minutes or a couple of hours before taking the train back to town.
If your dog is a water lover, he or she can join you in kayaking or canoeing down the serene Big River, a beautiful estuary that is home to many birds and wildlife, like otters and seals.
Many of the artisan vineyards in scenic Anderson Valley are happy to host four pawed visitors, some right in the tasting rooms as well as in their outdoor areas. And several restaurants all over the County are pleased to host canine guests, mostly al fresco. There aren’t many places that are as dog friendly as Mendocino. This is pet paradise!
