Domaine Anderson’s pedigree is as old as this country. Its parent company, the prestigious champagne house Louis Roederer, was founded in 1776, and created its famous Cristal champagne a century later. Fast forward another century, and the patriarch of the Roederer family founded a new vineyard in the rolling hills of Anderson Valley.
Perhaps surprisingly for a winery owned by a legendary sparkling wine producer, Domaine Anderson produces still wines: pinot noir and chardonnay. The winery produces both estate wines, blended from grapes grown in Domaine Anderson’s vineyards throughout Anderson Valley, as well as single vineyard wines. The single vineyard releases include the layered, complex Dach Vineyard pinot noir, the full-bodied and spicy Pinoli pinot noir, and the crisp, clean Walraven Vineyard chardonnay.
Winemaker Darrin Low, who grew up in Healdsburg, in the heart of neighboring Sonoma County’s wine country, has a lifelong passion for wine, sparked by working in his parents’ wine shop. After receiving his degree in Enology and Viticulture at UC Santa Cruz, Darrin studied in the famous French wine region of Bordeaux before returning to his native land. He is a strong believer in organic and biodynamic farming methods, and his winemaking style honors both French and California traditions, blending the Old World with the New World.
Domaine Anderson may have the most elegant tasting room in all of Anderson Valley. Designed by celebrated Napa Valley architect Howard Backen, it is both spectacular and comfortable at the same time. Its setting is idyllic, nestled in beautiful gardens surrounded by vibrant vineyards and gentle hills dotted with the deep shade of live oaks. There is plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the breathtaking scenery.
