North Coast Brewing Company

North Coast Brewing is a local institution, founded by a group of beer-loving friends who opened their craft beer brewpub in 1988. Since then, North Coast Brewing has won dozens of awards for their artisan beers, including Scrimshaw (a Pilsner-style ale), Brother Thelonious (a Belgian-style), Red Seal Ale (a Pale), and Old Rasputin (an award-winning Imperial Stout that has to be tried to be believed). There is something to suit every taste, from light Pilsner style to deep, rich stout. The brewery also makes seasonal beers, such as Tart Cherry, and barrel ages some beers in bourbon barrels for extra depth.

Second only to their passion for finely crafted beer is North Coast Brewing’s passion for jazz. From the time the Taproom opened their doors more than thirty years ago, they have hosted live jazz performances. These were so popular that the brewing company built a venue specifically for jazz performances, the Sequoia Room. Local, national, and international performers have graced the stage, from established stars to up and coming artists. The venerable Fodor’s travel guide calls the Sequoia Room “easily the best jazz venue along the North Coast.”

You can enjoy dinner along with a show in the Sequoia Room, or opt for the lively bar area or quieter restaurant section of the Taproom. The menu is available in all three locations. Favorites include wood-fired pizzas, burgers, and as you might expect in a coastal town, award-winning New England style clam chowder, and local fish and chips. Not a beer drinker? No worries, there is a full bar and a wine list of local wines. Hop across the street to the gift shop to pick up some beer, t-shirts, or other souvenirs to take home with you and remind you of your visit.
